High School Student
Ministries (Roots)
Students
in ninth through twelfth grade are welcome and encouraged to be part of
our Roots High School Ministry.
Roots meets in our upstairs Loft on Sundays from 5:00 P.M. and 6:45 P.M., then in small groups from 6:45 P.M. - 7:15 P.M., between September and May.
Beechwood encourages
our Roots students to be part of one of our small groups for high
school students, which are led by an adult leader and focused on
instructing and growing kids for their daily life and for the years
that lie ahead.
Here are some additional elements of our Roots High School ministry:
"I Believe" Mentoring:
We
encourage students of all ages to prayerfully consider when they
believe the Lord is leading them to publicly profess their faith in
Christ. The approach we take with students during this pivotal time is
called "I Believe," an 8-week one-on-one mentoring based
program that pairs a student with an adult leader and is designed to
help students understand and articulate the Christian faith. Most often
the students in "I Believe" sense God's leading to make a public
profession of their faith in Jesus Christ.
Outreach Events:
We
provide approximately 6-8 events per year that encourage students to
bring friends, meet new people and show that Christ-followers have a
lot of fun!
Service Projects:
We
give students several opportunities throughout the year to serve and
grow. A few examples include canned food collection,
random-acts-of-kindness, grounds work at the church, and raking leaves
for shut-ins.
Retreats:
We
offer a few spiritual retreats each year for students to get away and
grow in their relationship with God and each other.
Mission Trips:
Each
year we plan mission trips to different parts of our nation or world.
Usually these trips take place during the summer and are scheduled for
one week.
