Missions and Outreach in Our Community

Below are ministries and missions in our community that we have partnered with and helped to support in the past few years.

Barnabas Ministries (Rachel Patmos) - As an elder at Iglesia Alas de Aguila, Rachel Patmos is a key leader in our "extended" church family. Rachel is also a local missionary serving at Barnabas Ministries in their youth mentoring department.  Barnabas serves high risk youth while bringing the message of freedom, hope and healing in Jesus Christ to many.  Rachel is the mentoring supervisor for Barnabas and as such must raise her own support. Beechwood is delighted to be a partner in Rachel's ministry, and in the ministry of Barnabas Ministries.

Beacon Ministry - Now in its twentieth season of ministry, Beacon Ministry is for expectant mothers receiving care at various agencies throughout the area. With written references Beacon provides maternity clothes, layettes for newborns, infant clothes and cribs. More importantly, Beacon Ministry shares a warm welcome, a time of fellowship and the love of Jesus Christ with families. Recently oversight of Beacon was moved from Beechwood to our Spanish-language church plant, Iglesia Alas de Aguila.

Beechpoint Christian Camp - Beechpoint Christian Camp’s primary purpose is to reach urban youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ through a quality Christian camping experience. This is achieved through programs which provide campers with an environment to learn and practice Christ-like principles and to see Christ’s love demonstrated. Their passion is to see children and adults from all walks of life experience and know Christ’s love for them, so that they will be encouraged and equipped through a discipling program. Leadership of the camp is provided by former Beechwood members Bob and Jan VanDyke.

Benjamin's Hope:  People with autism spectrum disorders and developmental differences along with their families will be blessed through a unique church plant associated with an emerging, multi-faceted ministry called Benjamin’s Hope. With plans for a farm-like campus on Riley just west of 152nd, Benjamin’s Hope will offer a range of life and spirit-enriching opportunities for people with special needs. Beechwood is privileged to provide office space for Benjamin's Hope and serve as a partner for the ministry.

Church Multiplication Service - Founded in 2006, Church Multiplication Service (CMS) helps shepherd healthy churches to plant new Christian churches for God. Their stated mission is to provide assistance to churches that wish to reach people for Jesus Christ. In addition to partnering with parent churches, CMS works with and helps equip prospective church planters, including matching them with a parent church.

Community Food Pantry - Takes place at Beechwood Church on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

CROP Walk - Many local food pantries depend on the annual CROP Walk to keep stocked through the summer. The Holland CROP Walk takes place each year during a weekend in April, with the second day (Sunday) starting from Beechwood. Throughout the nation, thousands of walkers gather pledges from sponsors to march in the CROP Walk, an event which has become the second largest in the nation.

Echo Thrift
Echo Thrift is a project of the Mission Fund at Beechwood Church. The store's revenue is used by the Mission Fund and by Echo Thrift to invest in missions locally and internationally.

Good Samaritan Ministries - Good Samaritan provides vital ministry services to people and churches in our community. Their Clearinghouse serves as a hub of information and referral services, responding to immediate and short-term needs by linking individuals to area churches and agencies that can help. Good Samaritan partners with and equips churches by offering them ministry opportunities, training, and congregational coaching, along with pursuing grants that increase church capacity and programming.

Kids Hope USA - One child, one hour is the heart of Kids Hope USA … one caring adult mentoring a child one hour every week, supported by a prayer partner for each mentor-child pairing. Beechwood shares the Kids Hope USA philosophy that when kids feel loved and valued they are better able to learn, grow, and succeed.

Lakeshore Habitat For Humanity - Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Their ultimate aim is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need, and has built more than 250,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. Beechwood joins annually with several other area churches to provide funding and volunteers so that a family in need can experience the dream of owning an affordable home.

Western Theological Seminary - Western Theological Seminary prepares people who find their vocations in the ministries of the church of Jesus Christ - people who will preach, teach, counsel, pursue justice, help others in need, and evangelize in fellowship with the church. Beechwood helps support the seminary by being a teaching church for many students who come under our care, and through annual and/or special gifts to the seminary.
